JabberJaw:

This is an old article pending revision.

If you have seen Scooby-Doo, "Josie and The Pussycats", and "Speed Buggy", you can tell that "Jabberjaw is similar to all of these cartoons. Iwao Takamoto, HB's production design consultant, helped produce all of these. Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, who would start their own studio after 1976, also co-created this series. It was produced by Alex Lovy and directed by Charles A. Nichols. Scooby-Doo was one of the first series to be made and it was intended for "the gang" to perform in a band. They don't do this regularly, but they do sometimes later on. "Josie and The Pussycats" is a series that is much more focused on a band. And they have some similar characters to Mystery, Inc. and Speed Buggy also has characters similar to The Pussycats and Mystery, Inc. This series does not have a talking dog or a talking dune buggy. It has a talking shark!! The idea is loosely based on "Jaws", but is intended to be comedic. Jabberjaw and his friends live below the ocean and solve problems and perform in their band which is called "The Neptunes". Jabberjaw is capable of breathing above water, walking out of water, and talking. He is usually called "Jabber". He frequently gets "no respect". Since it was made in 1976, it was set in 2076.

Like many single season series that were produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, "Jabberjaw" only produced 16 episodes. The titles for these episodes are "Dr. Lo Has Got To Go", "There's No Place Like Outer Space", "Atlantis, Get Lost", "Run, Jabber, Run", "The Sourpuss Octopuss", "Hang Onto Your Hat, Jabber", "The Great Shark Switch", "Claim-Jumped Jabber", "Ali Jabber and the Secret Thieves", "Help, Help, It's the Phantom of the Kelp", "No Helpin' the Sculpin'", "The Bermuda Triangle Tangle", "Malice in Aqualand", "The Fast-Paced Chase Race", "The Piranha Plot", and "There's No Heel Like El Eel".

Jabberjaw is voiced by Frank Welker. Biff is voiced by Tommy Cook, who looks like Fred, Alan, and Mark. Shelley is voiced by Pat Parris and is just as grumpy as Alexandra. She is annoyed by Jabberjaw and Bubbles. Bubbles is similar to Melody and is voiced by Julie McWhirter. Clamhead is voiced by Barry Gordon and is similar to Shaggy, Alexander, and Tinker. Guest stars for this series are Ron Feinberg, Gay Hartwig, Hettie Lynn Hurtes, Vic Perrin, Barney Phillips, and Lennie Weinrib. There is also Keye Luke of Charlie Chan movies and "The Amazing Chan and The Chan Clan", Don Messick and Casey Kasem of Scooby-Doo, and Regis Coric and Hal Smith of Famous Classic Tales, John Stephenson of The Flintstones and Famous Classic Tales, and Janet Waldo of Famous Classic Tales, The Jetsons, and Josie and The Pussycats.

Jabberjaw is known for its merchandise such as its thermoses and its lunch boxes. This was featured in a music video later on. Music videos were everywhere in the early 21st century that featured all kinds of animated series such as Josie and The Pussycats which featured them in multiple music genres. Sometimes they were an alternate version of themselves, such as Klasky-Csupo's "Dee Dee And Dexter", which is what Dee Dee And Dexter of "Dexter's Laboratory" would look like in Anime. Jabberjaw's music video had common lyrics such as "Me and my friends get no respect" (which is what Jabberjaw normally said) and began with showing a Lunch Box with The Neptunes on them. This time The Neptunes is a ska rock band with slightly altered appearances. The most obvious one is Jabberjaw's nose ring. They have the same similar behaviors, such as Shelly's grumpiness.
