Scooby Doo And The Alien Invaders:

This is an old article pending revision.

Might Contain Spoilers.

Scooby Doo is a very popular talking dog cartoon character that has a powerful sense of smell that works for Mystery, Inc. and is well known after decades of television appearances. In 2000, he starred in a 3rd movie that was part of a specific collection of movies. During the 1980s, the main characters all split and were rarely seen except for Scooby and Shaggy. Daphne would occasionally appear but she looked more like Debbie from Speed Buggy and acted more like Fred and Velma. The focus was clearly on Scrappy ever since his introduction. Shaggy even wore a red shirt instead of green. "The Gang" would not be seen together as adults until the late 1990s. Because of not having any new episodes or films being made for several years, when they returned they were a few years older. The also had slightly updated clothing and they once again have a new Mystery Machine, which appears to be a 1980s Dodge Caravan. The character designs were slightly different as well as the picture and color quality. Many of the animators were Asian. These 4 films were released as direct-to-videos and were shown on television afterwards. These movies featured real creatures but were not always the criminals. They were also based on specific things, such as witchcraft, warlocks, and Wiccans. Scooby-Doo and The Alien Invaders is based on the controversy of Roswell, New Mexico and Area 51 in Nevada. It also focuses on Shaggy and Scooby falling in love, with Velma reassuring that "there is somebody out there for everyone".

This time everybody travels to the desert and get lost in a Sand Storm. Then they are being chased by a UFO. The Mystery Machine later breaks and has to be repaired. While it is being fixed, they residents of a town say that there has been suspicious things happening. They stay the night at the house of a conspiracy theorist named Lester, and Shaggy and Scooby camp outside and end up being kidnapped. They see themselves on tables and humanoid amphibian-looking aliens are approaching. They awake and find themselves off of the space ship and discover that they are hopelessly lost. They are rescued by a beautiful young photographer named Crystal with the same interests of Shaggy. She has a dog named Amber. Daphne, Velma, and Fred meet members of an organization called "SALF" or "Search for Alien Life Forms". Velma thinks they are up to something after seeing dried mud on their boots. The guy repairing The Mystery Machine is also a suspect. Velma wants to look for a hidden river where secrets might be kept. They discover secret mining equipment that was accidentally discovered by SALF and is guarded by fake MPs. They also discover that SALF dress up as aliens and disguise a giant helicopter as a space ship. It also turns out that Crystal and Amber are aliens that altered their appearance to look like a human and a dog, and SALF tries to capture them. They are caught and the organization is closed. Crystal and Amber apologize for the disappointed and heartbroken Shaggy and Scooby because they live 20 lightyears apart from each other. Velma also apologizes and hands them some Scooby Snacks. The repair person reveals his secret hobbies, and one of those is pressing flowers. He asks that it continues to be a secret and only explains to them because they thought he was acting suspicious.

The cast is Scott Innes, Frank Welker, B.J. Ward, and Mary Kay Bergman with Jeff Bennett, Kevin Michael Richardson, Jennifer Hale, and Neil Ross. These people have done other voice acting work for other movies in the collection. Sadly this is the last movie that Mary Kay Bergman stars as Daphne. She died after production and before the release. There would be one more movie with Grey Delisle taking over. More movies and series would be made after that but with a completely different character design and production design.
